１.《身体》から性を再考する〜性の多様性と自己決定〜（公開シンポジウム）
"Rethinking Sex Through <<Body>> - Sexual Varieties and Self Determination" in Osaka on Aug. 25 2001
本シンポジュウムは、身体から性を再考し、性別二元制をはじめとした「男／女」という二分法でおさまらない性の問題について、身体の性について蓄積がある医学や、生殖生物学、セクソロジー（性科学）等の諸科学の成果を、従来のフェミニズムの成果や身体の性にむかかわる当事者の要求と、どの様に結びつけていことができるかを参加者のみなさんと共に考えます。そして、すべての人が自分らしい性を生きていくため、自分と向き合って自分の性について知り、性の自己診断を行い、自己肯定にもとづく、自己責任をともなう自己決定を少しでも可能にしていくための、『性の多様性学』の可能性を考えます。

★ミルトン・ダイアモンド（Milton Diamond）さんについて
ハワイ大学医学校解剖学・生殖生物学部教授。性科学者。「環太平洋・性と社会研究所」主宰。日本語に翻訳された著書『セックス・ウォッチング』『人間の性とは何か』（共に小学館）などがあり、日本の性教育・性科学関係者に馴染みも深い。ここ数年は、インターセックスのケースマネージメントに関する提言が、米国医学界のみならず世界的なメディアの関心を集め、多忙な日々が続いている。世界各国から功績を称える賞も受賞しており、ごく最近ではドイツ社会科学性研究所から「マグヌス・ヒルシュフェルト賞」を授与されたのが記憶に新しい。

わたしが「わたしらしく」生きるために、性別・身体・戸籍ってどれくらい大事なのでしょうか？ 昨年から岡山でも始まった性同一性障害（ＧＩＤ）の医療を通じて、「性とは何か」について考えてみませんか。世界的な性科学者であるダイアモンド博士と法律問題の専門家、そして岡山大学ジェンダークリニックの全科の先生方によるものとしては日本初の一般公開の講演会です。

Transvestites in Chile are fighting to be
legally recognised as women on legal documents and ID.
Homosexual Liberation Movement president Rolando Jimenez is
lobbying the government to give transvestites the same rights as
transsexuals in Chile. Transsexuals are legally allowed to use
women's names on legal documents.
Jimenez is confident that a bill will be brought before the
Chilean Congress in the near future.

Prof Ratnam was active in the field of obstetrics and
